To switch the base and argument, use the following rule. It is also possible to change the base of the logarithm using the following rule. If there is an exponent in the argument of a logarithm, the exponent can be pulled out of the logarithm and multiplied. When the argument of a logarithm is a fraction, the logarithm can be re-written as the subtraction of the logarithm of the numerator minus the logarithm of the denominator.ĮX: log(10 / 2) = log(10) - log(2) = 1 - 0.301 = 0.699 When the argument of a logarithm is the product of two numerals, the logarithm can be re-written as the addition of the logarithm of each of the numerals.ĮX: log(1 × 10) = log(1) + log(10) = 0 + 1 = 1 What are the 3 types of logarithms The three types of logarithms are common logarithms (base 10), natural logarithms (base e), and logarithms with an arbitrary base. Since we want to transform the left side into a single logarithmic equation, we should use the Product Rule in reverse to condense it. A logarithmic equation is an equation that involves the logarithm of an expression containing a varaible. Base 10 is commonly used in science and engineering, base e in math and physics, and base 2 in computer science. Example 1: Solve the logarithmic equation. of this live expert session and select the appropriate subject from the menu located in the upper left corner of the Mathway screen. X = b y then y = log bx where b is the baseĮach of the mentioned bases is typically used in different applications. Free math problem solver answers your precalculus homework questions with step-by-step explanations. log 2, the binary logarithm, is another base that is typically used with logarithms. When the base is e, ln is usually written, rather than log e. Conventionally, log implies that base 10 is being used, though the base can technically be anything. This means that the log of a number is the number that a fixed base has to be raised to in order to yield the number. The logarithm, or log, is the inverse of the mathematical operation of exponentiation. Mathway is the worlds smartest math calculator for algebra, graphing, 618+ Teachers 4. To put that in perspective, the free Microsoft Defender blocked 99.7% and 99.5% of threats in the same two reports.ĪV-Test's September-October 2020 Windows Consumer Test found Total AV blocked 100% of common malware, but an average 98.2% of zero-day threats. (Fourteen of the packages scored at least 99%, and Panda, F-Secure and Trend Micro all blocked 100% of test threats.)Īny antivirus can have one bad test, but the earlier February-May 2020 results were even worse, placing Total AV in last place with a protection rating of 98.5%. That's ahead of McAfee (98.5%), but well behind most of the top competition. Total AV was a disappointing 15th place with a protection rating of 98.8%. (Image credit: AV Compartatives) ProtectionĪV-Comparatives' July-October 2020 Real-World Protection Test assessed how 17 top antivirus engines performed against the latest threats. That's a small usability issue, especially as the Smart Scan can't be cancelled Bitdefender, Kaspersky and others run simultaneous scans without difficulty. We launched a can't-be-cancelled Smart Scan, then right-clicked drive C: in Explorer and chose 'Scan with Total AV.' The Total AV dashboard popped up, but ignored our C: request and continued with its Smart Scan. The app isn't smart enough to cope if it's already running another scan, though. Total AV Antivirus Pro has added Explorer integration since our last review, and you can now scan selected files, folders or drives from the Explorer right-click menu. Our 50GB of test data included around 200,000 files, but Total AV claimed to have scanned around 450,000. The scanner's file count looks questionable, too. We found Total AV scanned our 50GB of test files in around 18 minutes, significantly quicker than most for a first run (Kaspersky took 23 minutes initially, Bitdefender 39.) But while some competitors scan only new and changed files on the second run, drastically reducing times (Bitdefender's second run lasted under a minute), Total AV took the same 18 minutes or so each time. Regular Quick and Full System scans are available on the Malware Protection screen. And even after you sign up, you're protected by a 30-day money-back guarantee. The website offered us one month of use for £1, though, with no requirement to continue, which seems more than fair. Total AV used to offer a 7-day free trial, but that seems to have been dropped. We've summarized what's on offer, but if you're looking for the full picture, it's all on the official Pricing Matrix page. If you're not ready to hand over any cash, Total AV Free Edition has on-demand scanning only (no real-time protection) and basic web filtering for the cost of precisely nothing at all. Bitdefender's excellent Premium Security includes a full VPN and is almost identically priced ($60 year one, $150 afterwards), or you can cover 25 devices with Avira Prime for only $130. But the price jumps again to $59 in year one, and a chunky $150 on the first renewal, $170 afterwards. Total AV Total Security lifts support to six devices, and throws in an ad blocker and a password manager. If you're looking for an antivirus and VPN from the same provider, Avira Prime has many more features, and is $99 a year (even covering 25 devices only costs $130.) Seems expensive for a suite which doesn't even include a firewall. Total AV Internet Security adds a Windscribe-powered VPN and looks good value at $39 in year one, but that jumps to $119 on the first renewal, $139 afterward. Bitdefender Antivirus Plus doesn't have the same PC maintenance features, but it's a capable antivirus app, and is $30 in year one, only $60 on renewal. Total AV Antivirus Pro looks cheap at only $29 in year one, but this jumps to $99 on the first renewal.
And after watching this sequel, I can’t blame him for being fed up with this comic book series. There was apparently a third Ghost Rider movie being discussed, but it was scrapped after Cage couldn’t take it anymore. We wouldn’t see another live-action Ghost Rider (in the form of Robbie Reyes) again until 2016 during the TV show Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. And after the sequel, even Nicholas Cage (who will usually say yes to any role), announced that he was officially “done” playing Ghost Rider. The motorcycle is imbued with Ghost Rider's hellfire, later heavenfire granting it supernatural attributes. But the first movie, despite the cool Ghost Rider design, flopped on its storytelling. The Heavencycle, formerly known as Grace and the Hellcycle, is a fiery skeletal-like motorcycle that is used by Johnny Blaze as Ghost Rider. The story of a Marvel anti-hero literally on fire, riding a motorcycle, and destroying the souls of the wicked sounds like a compelling film. Still struggling with his curse as the devils bounty hunter. Synopsis: For the first time in 3D, NICOLAS CAGE returns as Johnny Blaze in Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance. Ghost Rider should have been an awesome cinematic feature, especially with Nicholas Cage in the starring role. Official Site: Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance (2012) Release Date: February 17, 2012. He was portrayed/voiced by Nicolas Cage, who also played Sean Archer in Face/Off, Grug Crood in The Croods, Big Daddy in Kick-Ass, Ben. I’m going to assume this was already in the works before the first movie was even released because there is no way a sequel should have been greenlit. Ghost Rider is a superhero from Marvel Universe from the Marvel comics who appeared as the titular main protagonist of the 2007 live-action film Ghost Rider and its 2012 sequel Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. But if Johnny can find Danny first and save the boy's soul, there's a chance Johnny can save his own soul as well.Nicolas Cage has been in a lot of bad movies, but 2012's Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance might be his worst.Īfter the 2007 mess that was Ghost Rider, somehow it was deemed good enough to get a sequel in 2012. But there's a catch - Satan (Ciarán Hinds) is looking for the boy too, and has a personal stake in the matter. Johnny meets a priest named Moreau (Idris Elba), who asks Johnny to find a boy named Danny (Fergus Riordan) and bring him back. Now hiding out in Eastern Europe, Johnny Blaze (Nicolas Cage) is still struggling with the curse of the Ghost Rider - the devil's bounty hunter. Once you’ve landed on the intro page, swipe right on a mobile device (for info on how to use the service from a desktop platform, check out this tutorial) to read the story, complete with full-bleed photos, videos set to auto-play, Vines, GIFs and anything else the story has to offer. Click on a moment, for example, and you’re taken to an introduction page with a description of the story. In addition to gathering a ton of important news into one easy-to-access platform, Moments also offers several features that make the platform easy to use and fun to interact with. To make the Moments experience easier for users, the page also features tabs divided into “News,” “Sports,” Entertainment” and “Fun” tabs that users can click on for niche-related news from the last several days. These stories update throughout the day as the news rolls in, events take place or new details are added to previously published stories. This will open a page full of Moments that are happening or are important right now. To check out Moments for yourself, log into Twitter and click the lightning bolt icon at the top of your dashboard. However, Twitter has announced that Twitter users will be able to curate their own Moments in the coming months, which will allow for more customized sharing and unique and highly viral Moments pages. There are many places to get news online but, unlike many typical news outlets, Twitter Moments blends input from around the Twittersphere into one convenient place – so you can access tweets, videos, GIFs and interviews about a certain topic all in one place.Ĭurrently, the Moments pages are assembled by Twitter’s curation team, which pulls content from sites like Buzzfeed, Entertainment Weekly, Mashable and the Washington Post. To make the service more accessible, however, a Moment can be shared across all locations, which means that if a person in the US shares a moment, it can be accessed be a user in Europe ahead of the service’s release in those areas. Fortunately, Twitter moments is here to make that reality go away for good.Ĭurrently, Moments is available to US-based Twitter users on Android, iPhone, and Desktop devices. In short – Twitter is a great place to interact with your favorite musicians, leaders and politicians, but it can be tough to gather everything that interests you into a convenient place and, if you slack on interacting with the app for a day, you’re bound to miss important news and events. What’s more, much of this interaction is specific to Twitter and doesn’t take place anywhere else on the web: Tweet fights between celebrities, conversations between social or political features or, recently, President Obama’s viral tweet inviting young scientist Ahmed Mohamed to the White House after the high school student made a clock that his high school mistook for a bomb and suspended him for three days for. People familiar with Twitter know exactly how expansive the service is – approximately 500 million Tweets cross the site on a daily basis – and it’s impossible to see it all, no matter how often you refresh the screen. It’s the next big thing in the Twitter universe. And it’s accessed by the lightning bolt “Moments” tab at the top of Twitter now: This change goes by a simple name: Moments. If you’re an avid Twitter user, it’s likely that you noticed a change in the service at the beginning of October. You don't have to use the app to deliver music to the Boom 2, but there's a lot of sense in downloading it for its preset equaliser controls (still no full manual control here). In the future the app will allow more Ultimate Ears products to be daisy-chained together for even bigger output, something we saw at Logi's headquarters with 10 Boom speakers running in tandem. It's a nice solution, but obviously buying two products significantly pushes the cost up - and in this market Ultimate Ears isn't exactly budget anyway. And it needn't be two UE Boom 2s you might also own a UE Roll or UE Megaboom, which can be paired in any combination for proper stereo output via Bluetooth. If you have more than one Ultimate Ears speaker then they can be paired in stereo via the app. Saying that, when connecting at Tokyo airport we could have done with the loud bongos to be a little more discreet. We really like the clear meaning of these patterns, as pre-recorded voice - such as a robotic "connected" - tends to sound cheesy. If you have NFC (near field communication) then that's also supported for touch-based connectivity.Īll this is accompanied by confirmatory bongo rhythms - one when the Boom is switched on, another to confirm Bluetooth is active, and another when switching the device off. You can even rename the Boom something witty (whatever you like within 15 characters - so keep it snappy). When it comes to Bluetooth pairing, it's very simple: turn Bluetooth on using your chosen device, press-and-hold the UE Boom 2's sync button, and you're done. Other speakers at this size perform no better - so if it's bass you really want then look to the larger UE Megaboom (or elsewhere), which in some ways does cast a shadow on the standard Boom models. Still, it's not all about bass, with the Boom 2 delivering enough crispness from mids and highs too. At this size and scale bass isn't massive, certainly not to sub-bass levels, but the UE Boom 2 pushes out enough pep for rock tracks, pop and a mix of genres to give ample richness. The other thing to consider is your expectation of bass output. It'll even fit into a bicycle bottle holder. At 180mm tall, with a 67mm diameter and 548g weight it can be popped into a bag without being a major drag. We've been travelling a lot lately and the UE Boom 2 has become our perfect travel companion. We've dunked the Boom 2 in the bath, had it fall from desk and an open bag without needing to worry thanks to its tough construction, which is reassuring. The flaps are merely there to keep out gunk and grime, should you be chucking the Boom 2 around a field, at a festival, or wherever. That's one of the bigger points to take away from the UE Boom 2: it's now fully waterproof, including those lower ports, so even if the USB/3.5mm ports are exposed it doesn't matter. There's an on button to the top, sat next to a Bluetooth sync button those plus/minus volume buttons to the side on a rubberised panel section while a metal loop for hanging sits to the bottom, with Micro-USB charger and 3.5mm headphones jack hidden behind their own dust- and waterproof flaps. What's perhaps best about the UE Boom 2's design, though, is just how simple it is. Like we say, the UE Boom 2 doesn't look particularly different to the original, bar the new mesh-patterned material covering, which is now made of an improved material. Is it a case of love at second sight? UE Boom 2 review: Design that booms Given how smitten we were with the first model, is the UE Boom 2 our new favourite portable Bluetooth speaker? We've been listening in the office, in hotel rooms while travelling, and when out and about on the go. But in fact there an abundance of changes: Ultimate Ears has redesigned the UE Boom 2 from the ground up, delivering bigger sound from the same external design footprint, there's full-on waterproofing (even with the connectors' flaps left opened), and some more colour options to boot.
Saw that can cut 30-degree angles (miter-saw) Resistor (between 300 and 500 Ohm) Tools: ws2812b LED strip (5m 30Leds/meter IP30) 5V 10A power supply (lower Amperage might also work) Old USB cable (one that can power the Arduino nano) 128 ping pong balls (white ones preferably milky white) Wood for a frame (has to be 5 cm wide and a total length of at least 200 centimeters ) I build a small piece of this display (picture) both times I build one of these, and I am glad I did. This could also prevent mistakes that otherwise might occur later on ( like having to much space between balls). This allows you to see if the ping pong balls diffuse the light nicely. Is way faster to make, since soldering 128*6 contacts, and stripping the same amount of wires takes some timeįor anyone building this: This project requires some repetitive work, I advise to first make a small test version of this project to see how the end result will look like. looks cleaner, since wires and electronics cannot be seen from the front. allows for easier modifications and possible repair. has a back panel, so you can not see through gaps. has pixels orientated in a way so it is easier to program. uses LED strips instead of separately soldered together Neo-Pixels. In the images, you can see the previous version and the new one (the pictures with 2 panels, the top one is the old version). Whilst doing this I found out that this way the total amount of balls and LEDs became to be 128. I also wanted to have at least one row of balls between the digits to improve readability. This size came to be because I wanted four digits next to each other, with a colon in the middle. The length of the middle row is 20 balls (20*4 = 80cm). After some sketching, I found that this allowed for the clearest digit representations. The design I settled on uses 12 ping pong balls for each digit. Since the ping pong balls are not oriented in a matrix, I had to come up with a nice way to display digits. With this instructable, I hope to get others excited and inspired to build their own projects. Since some people were interested in a tutorial, I decided to improve the build and make a new improved version of the ping pong ball clock. After making some sketches and ordering parts I finally finished the project. This inspired me to make something with ping pong balls as well. Last year I saw quite some great projects from people that used ping pong balls as diffusers for LEDs. It can function as a Clock, can be LED decoration, or it can just be a nice piece of decoration when turned off. This awesome LED clock is a quite simple project that nearly everyone can make. Step 12 – The next item requiring attention is the blank line at the bottom of the page labeled “Cardholder Signature” and “Date.” Here, the Card Holder must Sign his or her Name then provide the Date he or she signed. Step 11 – On the blank space following the words “Amount to be immediately charged to credit card for room and taxes or deposit,” enter the Amount you agreed to pay the property to solidify this Reservation. Step 10 – Locate the statement “I agree to cover the above categories of charges up to a Maximum Amount of” and enter the highest Dollar Amount you will pay for this Guest’s stay. Step 9 – Below this, locate the statement beginning with the words “I agree to cover the following,” then mark the box labeled “All Charges,” “Room & Tax,” “Food & Beverage,” “Retail,” and/or “Recreation.” This is meant to define what you are willing to spend on the Guests behalf. Typically, these may be located in the Signature Box or in one of the corners. Report the Name of this Bank on the line following the words “Credit Card Issuing Bank Name.” Next to this, on the space following the words “Bank Security Number (from the back of your credit card),” report the three numbers printed on the back. Step 8 – The next line will require the Name of the Bank you hold this Credit Card Account with. Step 7 – Select the Card Type of the paying Credit Card by marking the box labeled “Visa,” “MasterCard,” “American Express,” “Discover, “JCB” or “Diner’s Club.” Step 7 – Enter the Full Credit Card Number of the Credit Card paying for this Reservation on the blank space after the words “Credit Card Number.” Then, report when this Credit Card will Expire on the blank space labeled “Expiration Date.” Enter the Cardholder’s Daytime/Business Telephone Number and Night Time Telephone Number in the appropriate spaces. Step 6 – The next box will contain an area for two items: Daytime/Business Telephone and Evening Telephone. Then on the next line, report the City, State, and Zip Code in the appropriately labeled areas. You may use this first line to report the Street Address. Step 5 – In the box with the words “Cardholder Billing Address,” enter the Bill Address exactly as it appears on the Statement for this Credit Card. The spelling of this Name must be identical to the way it appears on the card. Step 4 – Locate the box labeled “Cardholder.” The first box, labeled “Cardholder Name as it Appears on Credit Card,” will require the Full Name of the individual Named on the Credit Card. Step 3 – Enter the current Date on the blank line labeled “Date.” Report these two pieces of information at the top of the page on the blank line following the words “Fax Completed Form To” and “Attn.” (respectively). You should obtain the Fax Number and Department or Individual the completed form should be faxed to. Obtain a Reservation Number for your Guest. You will need to have your Credit Card Number handy for this phone call. Step 2 – Contact the Hilton Property you are making a reservation with. You may obtain either version by selecting one of the buttons on the right. Step 1 – The Hilton Family Credit Card Payment Authorization Form is available as a PDF or Word file on this page. Make sure to write down the information received during this call and that you are sure of the submission requirements that property has for this form. Thus, several pieces of information required by this form will only be obtained with a phone call to the Hilton property where the guest will be staying. Usually, in these types of transactions, the credit card holder is making a reservation for another entity. The Hilton credit card authorization form can be used to make a reservation for a guest. But in stark contrast, the science they use to justify this so often seems to be bogus, empty PR, that promotes basic scientific misunderstandings, and most of all is completely superfluous in every sense except the commercial: because the ropey promotional "science" is the cornerstone of their commercial operation, they need it to promote themselves as experts selling a product that is unique and distinct from the obvious, sensible diet and exercise advice that you can't copyright. The advice they are offering is sensible: "take an exercise break to help you concentrate" (or "eat some vegetables", in the case of the food voodooists). Now to my mind, this is classic Bad Science, and a perfect parallel to the rubbish peddled by self-appointed "nutrition science" experts. It is not the same as oxygenation, which I suppose is what they're getting at, and even if they are talking about oxygenation, you don't need to do a funny yawn to get oxygen into your blood: like most other animals children have a perfectly adequate and utterly fascinating physiological system in place to regulate their blood oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, and I'm sure many children would rather be taught about that, and indeed about the role of electricity in the body, or any of the other things Brain Gym confusedly jumbles up, than this transparent pseudoscientific nonsense. They teach that a special theatrical yawn will lead to "increased oxidation for efficient relaxed functioning". In fact, I will, because so many teachers have written in to defend it. They teach that rocking your head back and forth will get more blood to your frontal lobes "for greater comprehension and rational thinking". They teach a funny way of wiggling your ears with your fingers that "stimulates the reticular formation of the brain to tune out distracting, irrelevant sounds and tune into language". This is much easier than having to scroll back through your Terminal history, every single time you need to check some information! You may also want to use this split-screen setup to display some useful information in one window, and then work with this information in another window. This split-screen setup is great for general multi-tasking, but it can also be useful when you’re performing complex operations that require lots of Terminal commands, as you can divide this complex task into multiple parts and then handle each part in a separate window. To take a look at this split-screen view, press the ‘Command+D’ keyboard shortcut. This allows you to have two iTerm2 windows side-by-side, which operate independently of one another. One particularly useful iTerm2 feature that isn’t available in the standard Terminal, is split-screen view. Exit iTerm2 and then repeat your keyboard shortcut, and you should see that the iTerm2 overlay is no longer transparent.Drag the ‘Window appearance’ slider to the ‘Opaque’ end of the scale. In the left-hand menu, select the ‘Hotkey Window’ profile.Select ‘iTerm2 > Preferences…’ form the iTerm2 menu bar.To turn this overlay opaque, so that it looks more like the “regular” iTerm2 window: However, sometimes transparency can be distracting, for example if you have a particularly noisy wallpaper then you might struggle to read the iTerm2 text. You can interact with this overlay in exactly the same way you interact with the regular iTerm2 window. Now press your keys, and an iTerm2 overlay should appear. Test your keyboard shortcut by closing the ‘Preferences…’ window and exiting iTerm2.You should now see a message that a new ‘Hotkey Window’ has been created. When you’re happy with the shortcut you’ve created, click ‘OK.’.Press the keys that you want to use, and the field should update to display these keys. This field should now display a ‘Recording’ label. Decide which keyboard shortcut you want to use, and then click the ‘Hotkey’ field.Click the ‘Create a Dedicated Hotkey window…’ button.Select ‘iTerm2 > Preferences…’ from the iTerm2 toolbar. When you switch to iTerm2, you gain the ability to create a keyboard shortcut that lets you launch the “Terminal” window with the press of a few keys: However, if you use the Terminal on a regular basis, then the fact that you can’t launch it with a keyboard shortcut is one of those little niggles that can become seriously frustrating. MacOS’ default Terminal isn’t exactly difficult to reach (you can find it by navigating to ‘Applications > Utilities > Terminal’). This opens a ‘Fonts’ window where you can change the font family, typeface and font size. Give the ‘Change Font’ button a click.Select ‘Profiles’ and make sure ‘Default’ is selected.Select ‘iTerm2 > Preferences…’ from the iTerm2 menu bar.If you’re struggling to read the Terminal text, then you can change the text size and font family: To change the colour of the iTerm2 background, select ‘Background’ and then make your selection from the colour picker. The iTerm2 window updates automatically as you select different colours, so you can immediately see how your changes will look. To change the text, select the ‘Foreground’ colour and then use the subsequent menu to select a new colour. In the left-hand menu, select ‘Default.’. To change the background and/or text colour: You can customise pretty much every part of iTerm2’s appearance, which can make it easier to work with, for example if you’re struggling to read the text then you can increase the text size, change the font or use different colours to increase the contrast between the text and the iTerm2 background. However, there’s lots of functionality hidden beneath the surface, including some features that simply don’t exist in the official Terminal application. Initially, iTerm2 looks pretty similar to the standard Terminal. Once you’ve downloaded iTerm2, install and launch it. iTerm2 is free to download and use, but if you enjoy using this app then you should consider donating to the developer to help support their work on this project. To try this app for yourself, head over to the iTerm2 website and download the latest version. Jupiter looks like an orange planet with stars around the orbit.
